I met Mindy through her sweet hubby who is a fellow photographer. We met at a photographers meet and greet and my first impressions was she is just perfect for her partner Dave. They are both comedians, constantly smiling and making people laugh. They are a pleasure to be around. My first session with them was a few years back and I captured some images for their engagement. Fast forward to our most recent session, this time Mindy got the royal treatment.. this session was all about her. We spend the session laughing and joking and having a ball. Dave was my assistant that day as well setting up some behind the scene shots. It was an epic day. I look forward to shooting her every year of her life.. she is simply beautiful.

2: an exciting and often illusory and romantic attractiveness ‘the glamour of Hollywood’
What more can one say about the experience?
Have you heard the term ‘White Sheet Session’ and wonder what it’s all about? Well, imagine a boudoir session without the lingerie. I don’t mean a nude session, this is about about the intimacy we can create with a white sheet. It’s about embracing the sultry side of you. With a basic white sheet you have full control over how much you want to reveal or not. You may start our feeling a bit nervous, but trust me it's full of laughs and when you leave you will be glowing. I have had women literally gliding out the door feeling sexy, gorgeous and empowered. I strongly suggest a night out after your session, why not you are already made up and ready to take on the town.
While the idea of this may seen like something you do in your 20’s and 30’s, I am here to say NO! Do it now, no matter your age! Celebrate a milestone birthday, or surprise your special someone.
Women are amazing, especially when they are pregnant. It is such a special time, of miracles, and beauty. I am always awed by a woman's beauty at any stage of her pregnancy and I am thrilled when I get to do creative maternity sessions. A creative session could include fancy maternity dresses with billowing or flowing fabrics, nudes or semi nudes in nature to capture that connection to mother earth, studio sessions with a more magazine style (I personally loved Demi Moore’s cover). If you are expecting I urge you to book a session and capture this time... it is truly magical.
It’s that time of year, the season’s are changing the leaves are falling and it’s getting dark earlier. I used to live in Ontario where we had a glorious burst of color around end of September into October where everything turned a bright red and yellow. Mornings were amazing with the little bit of mist on the leaves and it made the landscape look like a painting some days and other days it was so magical you swore you saw a unicorn. Out here on the west coast we don’t get quite that punch of color in part it’s cause we have more evergreens here, I don’t let that stop me from creating fall feeling in my work.
I hope you enjoy this fall weather and have a fun Halloween - oh and don’t forget to change you clocks this weekend!.
A creation born out of the desert. The beauty and rawness and dress movement.
Sometimes it is not what you intend to create but what you need to create to open you up to inner most dialogues and thoughts. This image was inspired by a creepy image of a hand lit from above with melted wax - the ending seems so far from that.
So many things go into creating images, from your model to the weather and occasionally what you are reading or which netflix show you watched. I listen to audio books (alot of audio books) when I go on my walks, and hubby recently introduced me to a new title by Neal Donald Walsh called 'Tomorrow's God' it has clearly had an impact on my inner workings and contemplation. I found myself saying to my hubby 'I know this will sound weird but I think the purpose of living is to have joy, and that worry is (along with other factors) why I got sick. The purpose of living it so enjoy life not to be caught up in worry and frustration' (I had to pick up my hubby off the floor at this point). So, considering all of that is it a surprise that I created an image that is comming out of the dark, with the trinity (be it subconscious, conscious and super conscious or Father, Son and Spirit) It is the marrying of the 3 to help lift us out of the struggles.
What a Sunday it was, 4 generations of women capturing them in one session. How does it get any better than that? The studio was overflowing with laughs, music, nibbles and when it was all over, a little bubbly.
Boy what beautiful session.
