My Weekend at the PPOC BC Interior Branch's Second Annual Camp & Create
PHEW! I just got back from the most incredible weekend at the PPOC BC Interior Branch's second annual Camp & Create held in 150 Mile House, B.C. and hosted by Corrie Lindroos Photography. It was so much fun I had to share my experience with you all. From July 26th to 28th, over 20 of us photographers gathered to connect, inspire, and, of course, take a ton of photos.
From the moment I arrived, I felt the warmth and camaraderie. It was like a big family reunion with some familiar faces and plenty of new ones. The atmosphere was so welcoming, and I knew right away that this was going to be an unforgettable weekend.
One of the highlights for me was leading a session on pet photography. I loved sharing tips and techniques on how to capture those special moments between pets and their humans. Seeing everyone so eager to learn and try out new ideas was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me why I love what I do.
Awesome Workshops and Learning Opportunities
We had an amazing lineup of workshops, each one packed with insights and hands-on learning. Here are a few that really stood out:
- Adding Evoto to Your Workflow with Kathryn Gardner: Kathryn introduced us to the wonders of Evoto. Her practical demos showed how this software can seriously step up our editing game. I can't wait to integrate it into my workflow!
- Fine Art Portraiture with Tina Richardson: Tina's workshop was pure inspiration. Her techniques for creating timeless portraits were so insightful. I'm excited to try out her tips in my next sessions.
- Still Life Photography with Debbie Malm: Debbie's session was a deep dive into the art of still life. Her passion and expertise were infectious, and I picked up so many new ideas for my own work.
- Post-Processing Tips with Manpreet Sokhi: Manpreet shared some fantastic post-processing tips that are going to make a big difference in my editing. His advice was practical and easy to understand, which I loved.
One of the best parts of the weekend was the freedom to create and collaborate. While the workshops were incredible, having time to explore, shoot, and work with others was invaluable. The surroundings of 150 Mile House were stunning, and we made the most of it with spontaneous photo shoots and creative collaborations.
Evenings were all about relaxing by the campfire, sharing stories, and having some good laughs. These fireside chats were the perfect way to unwind and deepen our connections. I left with new friends and a lot of great memories.
As I headed home, I was full of gratitude and excitement. Camp & Create was a huge success, and well worth the travel time! I can’t wait for next year’s event. It was just the right mix of learning, sharing, and having fun - just what the doctor ordered.
Don’t Miss Out Next Year!
If you couldn’t make it this year, no worries! Keep an eye out for details about our next Camp & Create. Trust me, you’ll want to be there for the learning, the laughs, and the incredible sense of community.
Thanks to everyone who made this event so special. Let’s keep the creative vibes going until we meet again!
