Kim did a wonderful job photographing me and my puppy. She was fun and easy to work with and it is very clear she cares deeply about dogs. Picture This...

...a three-year-old me, animal crazy—dogs, cats, hamsters, rats, even snakes. My mom books a family photographer, and I flat-out refuse to take any pictures without my dog. Those photos? They still zap me back to that moment. I can remember my dog’s smell, his fur, everything.

Fast forward to now, with over 15 years as a photographer under my belt. I've dedicated myself to capturing beautiful moments for others, just like those I cherish. When my Great Dane, Floyd, passed away in 2019, it hit me hard—I had no professional photos that captured our bond like those childhood pictures did. Inspired by Floyd’s playful spirit, I turned my focus to dogs.

And let me tell you, work has never been more fun! I know Floyd would be wagging his tail, watching me goof off with dogs and their families, capturing their unique quirks—like that adorable head tilt or a cheeky grin. Now, I have Honey, my velcro dog, and I'm so grateful to have our bond captured and framed.

I want everyone to preserve that preciousness forever. Our pets may be with us for just a short time, but their love, joy, and essence live on in our hearts and on our walls, keeping our homes warm and our memories sweet for years to come.

From planning the perfect session to selecting the ideal location and time, I'm with you every step of the way. As for the session itself, let's just say they have an impeccable balance of fun, talent, and patience. Planning The Perfect Session

I love to know more about your fur baby so this is the time for bragging. Tell me about how you met, what makes you smile about your baby what quirks you adore. We chat about level of obedience, 'tricks' they know or how they are with other dogs. I adore creative planning with you for your session, what you envision for a final product and who will be in the photos. So, trust me I'll be taking care of you, them and everything in between!

The Big Day!

The big day has arrived! So the last thing you want to do is shrink back from your pet’s amazing personality. The session is all about quality time, having loads of fun, creating amazing memories and capturing their personalities and those quirks you love so much. So just relax and let's create more brag worthy images and memories

The Fun Part - The Big Reveal!

After the session, we’ll work our magic editing the photos to make sure each one is picture-perfect. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll receive a link to your private online gallery. Here, you can view all the beautiful images from our session and pick your favorites. Whether you want prints, albums, or digital files, we’ve got options to suit every need.

is there a cost or session fee?: Yes, there is a $200 session fee which covers the photo session with award winning photographer Kim Yanick. A consultation to design and collaborate your session prep guides and gallery preparation, where you will be presented 35 or more images to choose from to create your collection or signature wall art.
can I be in the pictures with my pet?: Of course, I would be honoured! I completely understand the unique bond you have with your pet and would love to create some beautiful memories of you together.
my pet failed obedience class, what can I do?: Many of my images are captured with pets on leash and the safety of your pet and others is my top priority. Leashes are removed from the images in post-processing. If you have a dog reactive fur friend, it may be best to book one of my Boutique Sessions so that we can limit distractions and other dogs. Please contact me to discuss.
how much should I expect to spend on my session?: Your total investment depends on the collection or wall art we are creating for you. On average, a client spends between $1500- $3400. However there are budget options as well. Typically clients spend $1995 on collections and wall art.
do you sell individual prints?: Yes, you can purchase an individual portrait or a single digital file, however most clients lean towards collections which include portraits and digital files.
only need 1 or 2 photos, do you offer mini-sessions?: Yes, shorter sessions are held periodically for studio pet portraits and headshots. For families, the extra time spent planning and photographing a custom session ensure we capture everyone at their best without feeling rushed and at a location of your choice. Highly recommend Kim Yanick Portraits. Kim did an amazing job at our Christmas Pet Photography fundraising event at our location in November 2019. She is very organized and the attention to detail in the photos was amazing. Her expertise really shines. I also had some private portrait sessions done with my dogs at her location.
