If you have a long-haired dog and have them groomed regularly, I suggest you book a grooming a few days ahead of their session to have them at their best. I have found the best for grooming is about 2 days before their shoot or the day before depending on the breed. Either way, ensure that your pup is groomed and ready for close ups. Side Note: If you do get a grooming and your pup needed to be shorn shorted than expected - reach out immediately to reschedule your date.
Pack a little shoot kit for the day of the session. Include a good pair of shoes for you, a drool cloth or something to wipe them down if needed or clean up eye goobers. Pack their most favourite treats, some peanut butter or other treat for potential lick shots, a ball or or toy that will motivate them. If they have a toy they absolutely LOVE to play with bring that along in that pack shoot kit.
Ensure you have a good collar and leash for your session and avoid body a body harness. I find that a body harness really impacts the look of your images. If you have concerns about safety, let's touch on that in your consult. Safety is a top priority and we will make accommodations in locations to ensure your baby is safe at our session.
On the day of the session, be sure to burn off that nervous energy your pup may have, with a nice walk in the morning and avoid feeding them right before their session. Treats work great if they are a bit more hungry - some call it bribery I call it a reward.

Frequently Asked Questions
My pet is not good off leash:
No problem, a lot of my sessions the pups are on leash and I remove that distraction in photoshop. So we have your covered there.
I don’t like having my image taken but I want to be included.
I totally understand that the session is about your connection with your pup and I create that story, with images that don’t necessarily need to have you fully in the image. We can create images that show your bond, with you holding their paw, or petting their head, throwing the ball and you are out of focus in the background etc. There are many ways on include you without being the focus of the image.
My dog is very active and does not sit still.
I have worked with many ages, breeds, and temperaments – and the one thing I can do it grab that one split second attention to create the connection we need in an image. We can also take action shots and play more to burn off that additional image.. I have back up plans.
What if the weather is not good on the day I booked my Session?
As an outdoor shooter, sometimes mother nature is not on our side. In the event the forecast is 15% or more chance of rain I will postpone up to 24 hours prior to your session. No one wants to photograph in a downpour. However, if it is overcast we proceed with the session.
